We embrace Parent Involvement! We have many different volunteer positions which require different levels of commitment but we appreciate any amount of time you can give to our school.
As a parent-run and operated cooperative program, the school is what the parents make it!
Volunteer Opportunities
- Make play-doh (a recipe is provided and a schedule is distributed at the beginning of the year.)

What is Duty?
Rothesay Nursery School parents have the privilege of being an integral part of their child’s early education. Duty is done on a rotational basis – approximately once a month for the 3-year-old class and once every 3 weeks for the 4-year-old class.
When you are on duty, you join the teacher and assistant, as an additional staff member.
Duty parents are responsible for helping with the following:
- help engage students in activities
- prepare the snack
- help with coats/shoes
- assist with general housekeeping.
Parents are not required to change soiled diapers. Unfortunately, cell phones, coffee, and siblings are not a part of the duty experience.
We distribute the duty schedule on a monthly basis. If you are unable to do attend on your scheduled day you are free to switch days with other parents, send a grandparent or relative in your place. Also, the Scheduler can make adjustments in advance should you have a specific request i.e. Shift Work, Appointment, Vacation etc.
This provides parents with the opportunity to participate first hand in their child’s preschool experience. Children are so proud and excited to have their parents at school!
Toy Cleaning
Each family is responsible for toy-cleaning. Toy-cleaning takes place the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm and each family participates only once per school year. This not only keeps our facility looking good but it also reduces the spread of germs.
